"I'm just a soul whose intentions are good..."

Anyway that's how my favorite Animals song goes. In that spirit, here's an updated version of what I posted on the Scout board last night after getting back from the Badger game at Williams Arena:

I set up this place Tuesday morning on a whim in about 30 minutes while drinking coffee and being frustrated with the scout.com board as well as reading of other's frustration. I really know very little about these things and wanted to see how hard it would be. It's not that hard to set up. We can all set up our own and just be like the former Yugoslavia, but I think it would be better to be in one place if possible.

I have always appreciated the great work and efforts Badgermaniac did in establishing a wonderful community. I have no desire to harm the community that Badgermaniac has built. Badgermaniac brought a lot of great people together on his own dime and on his own time over many, many years.

I invited five people by private message on the scout.com board. I told my dad and Saguaro by email. I posted in response to a thread called "Where do I send my check?" the following: "I wonder how hard it would be to set up an ezboard" and if you clicked on that phrase you would get here. That post has rightfully and understandably been deleted on scout.com. I paid $30 to ezboard so there wouldn't be advertisements for the first six months.

I think the fact that a lot of people showed up here speaks not to a desire to harm Badgermaniac or to fracture the community but shows the level of discontent over the new scout.com board. It clearly is not a small thing. This whole community has become a big part of a lot of relatively sane people's daily lives somehow. I don't think there is a single person who wants to lose that. But it's felt lost simply because we can't post or navigate with ease the new system.

While I know some have migrated here due to problems with Badgermaniac and Jason Miller, I never cared much about such issues. My motivation is not to hurt them or to show up them. I always figured I could ignore the things I didn't like.I will echo what a lot of people wrote about missing the quirky, Madison-spirit of the earlier incarnations of the board. The drive-by flaming and thoughtless posts is part and parcel of an athletic program attaining a higher profile and being attached to a national website like scout.com or rivals.com.

Having said that, I really just set this up on a whim and didn't put much thought to it. It wasn't in protest, although I'm fine if others want to use this site for that. It was because I was drinking coffee and posting in the thread "Where do I send a check?" on the scout.com board. I opened up another window, typed "www.ezboard.com" and had a site in a few moments.

I am surprised by the reaction, but think it speaks to the importance that this community has in many of our lives. It isn't my intent to be elitist, but I DO think we should all be cool, like Fonzie.Bottom line: as far as I'm concerned, this site is a place to chat/exchange ideas in the spirit and with the ease of the original Badgermaniac site until the scout.com site allows us to do that, if ever. That's all.

Welcome to Buckyville

This is a temporary site to direct people to information about Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball as well as to provide a temporary community for those formerly on the ezboard community badgermaniac.com. This is in no way affiliated with Badgermaniac or badgermaniac.com.
